Burlingame, CA, December 29, 2005 - Northern
California-based WorkForce OS has designed and developed
TheSkillsMatch.ca™, an age neutral career services site for
Canadian job seekers. Sponsored by CARP, Canada’s Association
for the 50-Plus, TheSkillsMatch.ca offers an in-depth skills
profiling system along with a complete line of tools and
services for the mid-career adult.
“There are many reasons why Canadians want to keep working –
economic, social, and intellectual. From a business
standpoint, employers need the skills and experience that the
mid-career worker has to offer. The challenge is satisfying
the needs of both the job seeker and the employer to create a
win-win situation,” explains Susan Magrino, President and CEO
of WorkForce OS. “By posting jobs on TheSkillsMatch.ca,
employers are acknowledging that there is a place for the
mature worker within their organization.”
For the Job Seeker, TheSkillsMatch.ca is free. After creating
an account, individuals are encouraged to complete their
Individual Talent Portfolio, which acts as an electronic
folder of skills, experience, goals, and more. A resume can be
uploaded along with other career-related documents such as
published papers, transcripts, and presentations. The
Portfolio can then be emailed to employers for a comprehensive
view of an individual’s qualifications. Additional services
such as skills testing, personality assessment, and a career
services blog are also available.
Employers create accounts by purchasing job postings and other
products such as Resume Bank and Canada’s Talent Pool Search.
Job postings include a company job board and built-in
Applicant Tracking System. With Resume Bank they can retain
and search applicants to all their job postings, as well as
accept passive applicants who submit a resume to the company
job board. Using Canada’s Talent Pool, employers can search
all those who have created Portfolios within TheSkillsMatch.ca.
“It’s time to dispell the myths about mature workers and to
put their invaluable experience and knowledge to work for us.
Canadian employers have everything to gain by exploring
TheSkillsMatch.ca as a unique recruiting resource,” says Eric
Vengroff, President, Fifty-Plus.net.
